On the corner of Monroe and Grant is Pizza Brutta. With eight-hundred-degree wood-burning ovens, employees have one goal: to make the most fantastic Neapolitan pizza that simultaneously establishes the local food structure. This is not a five-dollar hot-n-ready that was made hours ago; this is an artisan pizza made by professionals with a love for cooking from the ground up.

Salvatore’s is one-in-its-own. They don’t make pizza, they make tomato pies, and not all of them even use tomato. With Prosciutto and uncured pepperoni, these aren’t your standard pizzas. Salvatore’s offers vegan mozzarella and even vegan Italian sausage. They are not limited to pizza, though. Skip the pie and buy chicken wings, calamari, Bolognese, or rigatoni! Ask about gluten, dairy, and egg-free crusts purchased from Schroeter’s Bakery hailing from Milwaukee.

If you’re looking for cheese or pepperoni, don’t waste your time, this isn’t what you’re looking for. If you want artisan thin crust pizza with family heirloom recipes, then Grampa’s is the place to stop in. Gilbert Altschul, the owner of Grampa’s, offers delectable hors d’oeuvres, including confit pork a delicious beet salad. Ever had brussels and bacon topped with fresh mozzarella, olive oil, garlic, and grana? Me neither, but I’m fiending to get to Grampa’s and try their Brassacre.
